Obligation for Disclosure of Inventions.
All employees of UC, as part of their employment agreement, are required to formally disclose inventions to the UC Regents. This obligation applies to potentially patentable inventions, regardless of whether or not they were conceived on campus, as part of campus work, during the work week, or during a sabbatical or leave. However, disclosure and the eventual assignment of rights are two completely separate procedures. Disclosure to UCSC OMIP also serves as a convenient entry point to OMIP resources for faculty and staff. The UCSC OMIP disclosure form is located here [http://www.ucop.edu/ott/documents/disclfrm.html], and the full UC systemwide policy on disclosure is here [http://www.ucop.edu/ott/genresources/pat-pol_97.html].
