Submitting an Application
To conduct research involving human stem cells:
- Researchers must obtain approval from the UCSC Research Oversight Committee for Stem Cells (ROCSC) before initiating the research. To do so, the PI must complete a Stem Cell Application Form. Email completed forms to orca<at>ucsc.edu. Or mail completed forms to:
Office of Research Compliance Administration (ORCA)
Campus mail stop: OMIP
The forms can be hand-delivered to 439 Kerr Hall.
- Unless the research is purely in-vitro and utlizyzes acceptably-derived stem cell lines, ROCSC approvals must be renewed at least annually using the Renewal Form.
- Principal Investigators seeking to make changes or additions to approved protocols must request approval from the Committees prior to implementing those changes.
- Additional approvals may be needed from the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) or other committees, such as the Chancellor’s Animal Research Committee (CARC), as appropriate. There is no fixed sequence in which approvals must be requested, but research is not approved to begin until approvals have been obtained from all appropriate offices.
