Office of Research Compliance Administration (ORCA) Services is an administrative resource to ensure UCSC conducts its educational, research, and business processes in a manner that is consistent with regulatory, statutory, and organization requirements. This collaborative effort throughout the entire UCSC community is designed to achieve compliance and establish standards guiding research activities to protect the the rights of the researchers, the environment and the community.
Our office provide the following services:
The privilege of using animals for research, teaching, and testing is accompanied by ethical and legal responsibilities to treat them appropriately. Individual faculty members who use animals in their research or teaching are accountable for conforming to the regulations and policies governing animal use at UCSC.
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has the responsibility of overseeing the animal care and use program at UCSC.[More]
The UCSC Institutional Review Board (IRB) exists to protect the rights and welfare of persons who participate in research programs conducted by UCSC faculty, students, or staff.
The Office of Research Compliance Administration assists researchers in interpreting federal, state and University policies regarding human subjects research, and provides administrative support to the IRB.[More]
