Research
Professor Burney J. Le Boeuf, has been faculty member in Biology
and the Institute for Marine Sciences at UC Santa Cruz since 1968.
Associate vice chancellor Le Boeuf
works closely with faculty members to explore research funding opportunities
from public, federal, or private sectors, as well as collaborative efforts
with the national laboratories. He is responsible for campus-based organized
research units and other support units. He is part of the research team
responsible for UC's association with NASA Ames.
Le Boeuf is well known for
his research on the behavioral ecology and physiology of marine mammals.
He has published over 157 peer reviewed articles and authored three books.
He is reknown for his work on the social and reproductive behavior of
elephant seals, as well as their diving, foraging and migratory behavior.
