The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is an administrative office that helps the Santa Cruz campus provide an effective environment for faculty research in departments as well as within formal Organized Research Units (ORUs), Multi-campus Research Units (MRUs) as well as through centers and other programs. These activities are supported by an information system and technology structure that facilitates achieving the goals in cost-effective ways, and regular reviews of research units by faculty, to maintain the excellent quality of the work.
Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) is UCSC's institutional office responsible for reviewing, endorsing and submitting proposals to extramural sponsors for research, training and public service projects as well as negotiating and accepting extramural awards on behalf of The Regents and UCSC.
Office of Research Compliance Administration (ORCA) provides guidance, education and assistance with business processes in areas of research compliance to faculty, researchers and staff.
The Office for Management of Intellectual Property (OMIP) works with university faculty, students and administration to identify, report, secure and deploy patents, copyrights and trademarks consistent with UCSC's mission of instruction, research, and public service. OMIP negotiates agreements with industry, including sponsored research agreements, material transfer agreements, non-disclosure and teaming arrangements associated with UCSC research programs.
